Fighting the gender pay gap

Women earn an average of 17% less than men in the European Union, though this figure varies widely between countries and professions, and is usually greater in the private sector. The difference exists even though women often have better educational qualifications than men. Moreover, women remain hugely under represented in all spheres of power and decision making.
The video was filmed in Germany (example of a school in Munster which has instigated a 'Girls' and Boys' Days'), in Finland (introduction of the Gender Equality Act in 2006 and analysis of its impact in the public sector with the Finnish Police, and in the private sector with the Neste Oil Porvoo Refinery) and in Belgium (example of a woman coming up to retirement, who has recently had an unpleasant shock when discovering how low her pension will be).
