RONA, Canada’s largest distributor and retailer of hardware,
renovation, and gardening products, is supporting the new agreement
between members of the Forest Products Association of Canada—FPAC—and
nine leading environmental organizations for sustainable management of
72 million hectares of Canada’s Boreal Forest. Many of FPAC’s 21
members are RONA suppliers. RONA notes that the aims of the Canadian
Boreal Forest Agreement are similar to those of the company’s Wood
Products Procurement Policy, which mandates that 100% of the softwood
lumber sold in its stores has to come from forests certified under
Forest Stewardship Council standards.
The Make the DASH Count Foundation has started its second area
board, the 495 Hopkinton Youth Board, to serve the greater Boston area.

people about philanthropy through direct experience. Since its founding
in 2002, the foundation has distributed over $210,000 through its Youth
Board members to more than 55 non-profit organizations serving at-risk
youth. Youth Boards now serve the Seattle area in Washington as well as
the Boston region.
