CSR Minute: Women in Science Awards

The 12th L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Awards has recognized
five exceptional women, one from each continent, for breakthroughs in
scientific research. Over the past 12 years, the For Women in Science
program has honored 62 Laureates and 864 Fellows, and has become an
international reference for scientific excellence. Recently, 2008
Laureates Elizabeth Blackburn and Ada Yonath were awarded Nobel Prizes
in Medicine and Chemistry.
Teletrips, a provider of Web-based assessment, management, and
reporting tools for workplace sustainability, has released the latest
version of its Commute Management and Reporting system. The software
offers transparency and control over the financial, environmental, and
social impacts associated with employee work locations and travel
modes. In order to report on the cumulative triple bottom line, the
system aggregates individual employee impacts, and feeds directly into
CSR reporting efforts. Teletrips’s system is based on authoritative
data sources, such as the World Resources Institute GHG Protocol,
Transport Canada, and the EPA, making it a comprehensive input for
regional and global sustainability indexes.
