Since the 80’s, Panjin has been well-known for its heavy industry, taking advantage of its natural resources. 90% of Panjin’s plants are still based on the petrochemical industry. In the year 2000, in order to get Panjin’s inhabitants and birds living together in harmony, the central government chose Panjin as the pilot city of an eco-zone project.
