Drs. Jong and Vann: The Challenges and Rewards of Rural Medicine



Dr. Michael Jong, Director of NorFam in Labrador and Dr Patty Vann, who works in emergency medicine at Sioux Lookout Ontario, share their thoughts with us during a break at The Society of Rural Physicians of Canada: Rural and Remote Medicine course at the Hyatt Regency in Toronto.
Under conditions that many in the medical profession would find challenging, these doctors have chosen to make their careers in small communities. Rural physicians must work without many of the resources found in urban centres but also enjoy ties to their patients and their community which are lacking in cities.
