Simple® Shoes introduces new “Glue-Free Assembly” collection

Simple® Shoes is continuing to make new strides infinding eco-friendlier ways to make great lookingfootwear. For the Spring 2009 seasonwe are introducingGlue-Free Assembly to several styles in our Green Toe™collection. We started with the idea of making our shoescompletely without gluebut quickly realized that thebackings in the component buildingprocess still needed a small amount or they would fallapart. Neverthelessby using sewing machines toassemble the shoe components instead of extra glueournew Glue-Free Assembly reduces the amount of glue usedto less than 5mL (think about the size of a thimblecompared to the two shot glasses of glue that are usuallyrequired).

The styles in this collection also have super-comfy foot beds made fromreclaimed scrap carpet paddingas well as outsoles made from a blend ofrecycled car tire and natural latex.

We at Simple launched the Green Toe™ collection in Fall 2005and as a result,we’ve changed just about everything in our product line. Green Toe showed usthat it’s not only possible to reduce the ecological footprint left by shoesbut thatit’s our duty to do so. Green Toe represents our best effort towards makingshoes more planet-friendly.

HOW we make our shoes is just as important as WHY we make them. We’recommitted to making our products 100% sustainable.
