Pollution aux eaux usées sur les plages de Dubaï

Les plages de Dubaï très prisées des touristes sont victimes de chauffeurs-pollueurs qui n'hésitent pas à vider le contenu de leurs camions, destiné à l'unique usine de traitement des eaux usées de la ville. Comme ils sont payés au voyage et que les délais d'attente à l'usine peuvent être très longs, ils préfèrent vider leur camion dans le réseau d'eau de pluie, qui se termine à la mer.
En attendant que la ville soit dotée du tout-à-l'égout et d'une deuxième usine, l'expansion effrénée de la ville de Dubaï provoque des conséquences environnementales graves et expose touristes et habitants à des risques désormais sanitaires.

ECOLOGICAL PROCESS FOR THE

SANITIZATION OF THE SAND OF THE

BEACHES

1- INTRODUCTION :

During the summer season, the strong frequentation of the beaches is at the origin of invisible but important pollution of sand.
This pollution is due to a proliferation of pathogenic bacteria which are responsible for mycoses, dermatoses, vaginite, and sinusitises.
These disagreements occurs because the skin is made sensitive by
- sunburn
- cuts,scratches and grazes caused by the sand
- rashes or irritations caused by diatom plankton in bathing water

The germs as staphylococcus,streptococcus,fungi and moulds including pseudomonas and candida albicans,responsible for infections have human and animals origin( cutaneous and fecals germs)

However, there is a way to get rid of this pollution by means of a special treatment of the sand, thus restoring to the beach its reputation of cleanliness

This treatment called MERAKTYS consists of impregnating the sand with an entirely natural, non toxic liquid that cleans the beach without doing any harm to the environment.

3-PRINCIPE OF MERACTIVE PROCESS:

The Principe is very simple, since the production of MERAKTYS solution only requires sea water and electricity..
The process consist in producing a natural disinfectant by passing electricity through sea water and spraying this solution in the sand of the beach at the same time or after the screening machine has been over the sand
Electrolysis of sea water produce a high oxidizing solution very unstable made of hypoiodous, hypobromous and hypochlorous acid as well as hypochlotite which is a strong bacteria killer.
After elimination of pathogenic bacteria, MERAKTYS return, under the action of the UV of the sun, in its original form, that is to say, as sea salt and give a good smell on the beach.

4-TECHNICAL PRODUCTION:

Sea water is pumped from, for example through a well dug close to the sea, filtered and stored in a tank carried on a trailer.
Close to the tank, a small module contains pumps, electrolysis device and power supply.
A pump send the sea water from the thank through the electrolysis unit to come back in the tank until the level of active component is reached.
When the tank is full, the MERAKTYS solution in a tank is ready. The operator disconnect the pipes between the module and the tank and the cleaning of the beach can start
The machine mixes the sand, simultaneously, the MERAKTYS solution is sprayed so that it is impregnated to a depth of 5 to 15 cm depending the type of beach
This operation can be carried one or two times a week,depending the frequentation of the beach.

5-WHY OUR PROCESS IS DIFFERENT FROM THE COMPETITORS

It is an ecological product without risk for environment and for people
The activated sea water after one or two hours return to its original status; in reality, electrolysis imitates what nature does-as accelerated form and more concentrated
Compared with chemical or bacteriological products (ammonium quaternary) usually used as cleaning hospital floors, it is the only one proven to be effective, selective and non toxic; the others could cause environment hazards and they have absolutely to be avoided.

6- STUDIES ON MERAKTYS/MERACTIVE:

MERAKTYS is an optimization of MERACTIVE process in term of production installation and application on the beach.
The French medical authorities formed part of working group set up within the frame work of a project of the European Community(MEDSPA) having for goal to test the effectiveness of process MERACTIVE.The procedure of test as well the results were commented on by the working group. The positive conclusions as for the effectiveness of the process are contained in the report of the University of Montpellier. The person in charge of this project to the DGXI in Brussels expressed his satisfaction

8- WHERE IS THE MARKET?

Municipalities, private beaches, cleaning companies around the Mediterranean Sea, in priority where the effect of high tide is not effective.
A marketing prospect in 1992 indicated that few hundred beaches could be equipped by the process.
In fact the process did not receive the expected success and this in spite of its qualities;
Only few types of equipment were installed in France, Italy, Sardaigne, Spain and continue to work well for the pleasure of the holiday-makers. Why?
The process arrived too early and the municipalities, in priority have to invest in big sifter –screen machines to eliminate all the garbage that the holiday-makers could see.
There was no legal obligation about the bacteriological quality of the sand
The original company met financial difficulties and the new owner a Swiss man who was very old did not developed the market and died
So now, the municipalities are well equipped with screening machines and our product will come for a relative limited investment to complete the cleaning to insure to the holidays – maker a beach without risk.
